Gilbert-Ash has commenced construction work on a 474 bedroom student accommodation scheme at 28-30 Great Patrick Street in Belfast, which will see an overall investment of £37 million in the city. The design and build contract is worth £22 million to Gilbert-Ash.
The project is being developed by Olympian Homes and is expected to be completed in late August 2018 ahead of the opening of Ulster University’s new Belfast city centre campus.
s well as the 474 bedrooms, the scheme will also feature a ground level retail unit, shared living spaces and a landscaped courtyard.
Ray Hutchinson, Managing Director of Gilbert-Ash said: “The built landscape in the centre of Belfast is going to see major changes in the coming years and we are excited to play our part in the development of this large scale student accommodation project. We anticipate that the project will support 300 construction jobs over the next year and a half.
“Alongside the City Quays Hotel in Belfast Harbour, Great Patrick Street represents one of the largest contracts that we have worked on in Northern Ireland in recent years and we are pleased to be working on another major project here.”
Olympian Homes, a London-based firm, has been trading for over 20 years and has brought similar schemes to key student markets in London and Oxford.
